Extrude helps to create a three-dimensional polygonal mesh object. With this option any 2D shapes can be changed into 3 Dimensions. The Extrude Extended Object creates a three-dimensional polygonal mesh by assigning depth in space to a two-dimensional shape object.

This User Guide shows user can extrude any 2d shape made by a polyline or imported as an AI/SHP.
