One of the most exciting features of Drone Designer is the Command Editor. A PowerShell-command based system, the Command Editor allows you to manually enter a set of commands to execute a particular action. The Command Editor has two white spaces, one to enter the desired command and the other to record the output.
The Command Editor has a set of buttons that allow you to perform various functions. From top to bottom, they are:
Open Script: Clicking on this button opens up a window, which allows you to search for any executable script-file in “.ps1, .txt, .doc or .rtf” formats
Save Script: This button allows you to create a specific button for each command. This ensures that if you wish to use the same command again, then you can simply create a button to enable single-click execution of that same command
Add Message: This buttons opens up a window where you can add a message. This message will appear as a pop-up on the work area, before the command is executed. This allows you to create markers for yourself, or for the user
Clear List: This button clears the input area
Favorites: Clicking on this button opens up a window, which allows you to add the commands in the favorite pool for future use
Execute: If you manually enter a command into the "Command” space or open any script file , then this button allows you to execute it
Save Output: Every action, by you, generates an output script. Irrespective of the size of that script, the Save Output button allows you to save the entire output in the form of a script-file (i.e. in .ps1, .txt, .doc or .rtf formats)
Clear Output: This button simply clears the output area
If you are trying to duplicate a long or complicated piece of animation, then the advantages of the Command Editor comes into play. All you need to do is copy the lines of script from the output window and enter it in the “Command” window. Click on execute and your action, however complex, gets replicated.
The most interesting, and convenient, feature of the Command Editor is the use of PowerShell commands. As you select an object, on the drawing plane, the code for that object (or action) is automatically highlighted in the Command Editor. This allows you to locate the code for any, and all, objects & actions, at any given time. This also means that you are not required to know any programming languages and, therefore, can use the functionality & benefits of the Command Editor without studying anything special for it.
The Command Editor makes replicating, locating and debugging your animation simple! A feature that offers greater control over the entire animation, or action(s), the Command Editor has been designed with the non-technical user in mind.
I will be posting code snippets in the coming days...
